The list of the most expensive homes for sale in the world is constantly changing. In February, Robb Report stated that a penthouse at the top of the Central Park Tower in New York, priced at $250 million, was leading the listings. The following month, several publications placed Holme, a luxurious 40-bedroom seaside estate in London, at the top, priced at $300 million.

However, regardless of the ranking, the locations of these ultra-expensive residences remain quite exclusive: Dubai, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Among these high-end properties is a mega-mansion on Repulse Bay Road in Hong Kong, priced at HK$2.2 billion, or around $281 million (R$ 1.4 billion).

“Within the city, this mansion is among the most expensive properties,” says Letizia G. Casalino, executive director of the real estate company OKAY.com. “There are not many in this price range.

Contributing to the cost is the size: the gross square footage of the interior and exterior space totals 1,700. There are 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms spread across five floors – all interconnected by elevators. In addition to the balconies, garden, and terrace, the mansion’s backyard patio can accommodate more than 100 guests for events.

The prime location is also one of the justifications for the price, says Casalino. “Within the Southern District, the price per square foot has remained between HK$ 90 and HK$ 120.” Beaches and shopping are within walking distance.

The brand-new mansion was built in 2019 to attract ultra-wealthy buyers. In the current challenging ultra-luxury market in Hong Kong, Casalino sees potential for a wider audience of buyers.

“Magnates from all over the world, but the focus is on mainland Chinese or perhaps super-rich families from Hong Kong. It will likely be for a large family or someone who wants to host multiple events on the property,” he says.
